Gear We Use: Quechua MH100 2-Person Camping Tent – Reliable Shelter for the Outdoors
🏕️ Where Every Trail Tells a Story — and Every Shelter Supports It
When it comes to beginner-friendly camping gear that doesn’t compromise on quality, the Quechua MH100 2-Person Tent is a trustworthy pick. Whether you’re exploring a riverside campsite in Barot Valley or pitching your base camp in the lower Himalayas, this tent has proven to be a sturdy and simple companion in our gear list.
🧭 Why We Use It
-
Quick Setup: Pitching the MH100 takes about 5–10 minutes, thanks to its simple two-pole design. Perfect for when you’re racing against sundown or tired after a hike.
-
Weather-Resistant: Designed to withstand moderate rain and wind (tested for 40 km/h winds), the MH100 keeps you dry and cozy in unpredictable mountain weather.
-
Compact & Lightweight: Weighing around 2.6 kg, it’s manageable for short treks and easy to pack.
-
Ventilation: Two side vents and a breathable inner mesh reduce condensation, which is especially useful in humid or chilly conditions.

📍 Tested Location: Barot Valley Campsite, Himachal Pradesh
We pitched this tent right by the riverside in Barot Valley. The soft grass, soothing sounds of the Uhl river, and cool nighttime breeze made for a picture-perfect camping experience. While we wouldn’t recommend it for alpine or winter snow treks, it works like a charm below 2,500 meters.
🛏️ Space & Interior
This tent is labeled for 2 persons, but it’s a snug fit. If you’re both average-sized and don’t mind being cozy, it works. Otherwise, it’s perfect for 1 person + gear, especially if you want extra room to stretch or store your backpack inside.
If you’re camping as a duo, here’s what we recommend:
Pair it with a Quechua Air Basic 140 cm Inflatable Mattress, and if you’re planning a relaxed camp stay, carry a small camp table for your food and essentials. This combination makes the space more functional and comfortable.
🔧 Notable Features

❗ What MH100 2-Person Camping Tent Not Ideal For
While we love this tent, it has some limitations:
-
Not suitable for snowfall or alpine winter camps
-
Limited vestibule space – you won’t get a lot of dry storage outside the tent
-
No footprint (groundsheet) included – advisable to carry one
